An experimental system for auditory image representations, intended as a step towards a vision substitution device for the blind.

See the applet's home page for full details and usage. A copy of the applet is served here to allow it to be used with picons from the Picons Archive, as illustrated with the default example below. You can load any other GIF picon you care to try. The Picons Search engine is available to discover the paths to particular picons.
