V1.5.1 X-Face format change?

A little strange thing is happening when I run faces -s on a spool
file with X-Face entries in it (namely, the archived faces
discussion). The images get trashed. It works fine on files not
containing such headers and with normal mail checking (unless
mail has X-Face records).
What changed?
PS. We're going to try and hack up a face server over the weekend.
